If you manage a building, you need to show that you understand your Legionella duties and can carry them out. Training is how you prove it.
Water Hygiene Services provides Legionella training for the people who manage water systems and carry out water hygiene tasks, at your premises or elsewhere. It is built around HSG274, supporting ACoP L8, and tailored to your buildings.
Do I need Legionella training?
You are not legally required to complete a training course to be the person in charge, but it is strongly recommended. You must be able to show that you understand your legal responsibilities and are competent to carry out your duties safely. Refresher training is also recommended. In some low-risk settings, training may not be needed, and we can tailor a course to what you actually need.

Frequently asked questions
Is refresher training needed?
It is recommended, so that knowledge stays up to date and you can show competence. We can agree a refresher schedule with you.
Can the course be tailored to our building?
Yes. We use your own systems and risk assessment as the examples, so staff learn what applies to them.
Can you train staff on site?
Yes. Training at your premises is one of the most useful options, because staff can practise on the real systems.
